Take Advantage of the Golden Age While It Lasts If Podcasts Are the New Blogs
SERIAL has returned!
Oh boy!
With its 12-episode true crime series about the 1999 murder of Maryland high school student Hae Min Lee, the podcast that first attracted a large audience to the format last year has recently launched the second episode of its second season.
Since Serial's debut a year ago, certain enticing questions have persisted, such as: Are podcasts the next major storytelling medium?
And should everyone be doing podcasts as well?
It's the heyday of podcasting, and anyone with a laptop, a microphone, and access to a web server may participate in the medium.
Numerous audio producers, many of whom received training from Ira Glass, are producing narrative series that are on par with the 20-year-old radio documentary programme in terms of quality and innovation.
